Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Salty spray meets peat smoke. In the background, vanilla unfolds, along with fresh fruits and gooseberries with meringue.
- Palate: Rich peat – maritime, with a salty spray. Vanilla joins in quietly, along with a lively fruit note and gooseberry in the background. Towards the end, the peat smoke prevails.
- Finish: Very long, maritime, subtly fruity and sweet, with an endless, dry peat smoke.
Distillery/Bottler: Bunnahabhain, founded in 1881, is located on the northern east coast of the Isle of Islay and is known for its maritime and often unpeated whiskies. The name "Staoisha" stands for the peated bottlings of the distillery, characterized by strong peat smoke and maritime influences. Michel Reick, the independent bottler behind Best Dram, is known for his careful selection and bottling of single casks that authentically showcase the character of each whisky.
